Frozen Embryo Transfer Acupuncture in Aurora: When to Book Before and After FET
A frozen embryo transfer can involve changing dates, medication instructions and a lot of waiting. If you are considering acupuncture, the appointment should fit around that care and feel manageable for you.
You do not need acupuncture immediately before or after FET. There is no proven appointment window that guarantees implantation or live birth. You can discuss optional care without committing to a course of treatment.
Start with your actual FET schedule
A frozen transfer uses an embryo created and frozen earlier. Preparation may involve medication or monitoring your own cycle. The fertility clinic determines the transfer timing and any prescribed hormone support. ASRM/SART explains fresh and frozen transfers.
When you book, share what you know about your protocol and expected transfer date. If the date changes after monitoring, update the appointment plan. Acupuncture should not alter your medication times or clinic instructions.
Before transfer: what is useful to discuss?
An initial appointment gives you space to explain what has been difficult and what you hope to address. That may include pain, tension, interrupted sleep or the practical demands of treatment. Mike reviews whether acupuncture is appropriate and explains the aims and limits of any proposed care.
Bring your current medication and supplement list, relevant clinic instructions and reports you already have. You do not need to collect every past result or provide a detailed fertility history by ordinary email just to see available appointments.
There is no required number of weeks of acupuncture before FET. Earlier contact can help with planning; it should not create pressure to delay your transfer or complete extra sessions.
Do I need an appointment on transfer day?
No. Some people prefer an appointment that day, while others prefer another time or no appointment. Discuss what is appropriate for your circumstances.
If you choose transfer-day acupuncture, allow for travel, check-in and any bladder or medication instructions from your fertility clinic. TCM Fertility appointments take place at Momentum Therapy in Aurora. Booking here does not include treatment at your transfer clinic.

What does the FET research show?
In a randomized trial of 226 FET patients, one session of acupuncture immediately after transfer was compared with placebo acupuncture. The groups did not differ significantly in implantation, pregnancy or live birth outcomes. Read the FET trial.
This study examined a specific protocol; it does not settle every question about acupuncture. It does mean that this protocol should not be promoted as a proven way to improve transfer success. Broader IVF research also requires careful interpretation rather than a promise of benefit.
After transfer and while waiting for your test
Continue to follow your fertility clinic's medication and testing instructions. Let Mike know your transfer date, current medicines and any new symptoms before further care.
There is no automatic schedule for continuing acupuncture until a pregnancy test. Follow-up is discussed according to your assessment, response and preferences. If your test is positive, tell your care providers so the plan can be reviewed for pregnancy.
Seek medical advice for new or concerning symptoms. Acupuncture should not delay assessment of bleeding, significant pain or feeling unwell.
What about Chinese herbal medicine?
Herbs are not added automatically to an FET plan. Any formula needs an individual medication and pregnancy safety review, including your fertility clinic's guidance. Acupuncture and oral herbal products are different treatment decisions.
