Complementary care during IVF and FET
IVF and frozen embryo transfer (FET) can involve changing schedules, frequent appointments and many questions. Mike (Weijie) Xu offers individualized acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine care at Momentum Therapy in Aurora, alongside the care you receive from your fertility clinic.
At your appointment, you can discuss how you are feeling, including sleep, stress, menstrual symptoms or discomfort during treatment. Mike will assess which concerns are appropriate for TCM care and discuss your options, the limits of treatment and whether another healthcare professional should assess a concern.
Your fertility clinic remains responsible for your IVF or FET protocol, medication, monitoring, retrieval and transfer. TCM Fertility does not provide IVF laboratory treatment or replace that care. Acupuncture and herbal medicine are not offered as a guarantee of implantation, pregnancy or live birth.
If you are considering Chinese herbal medicine, bring a current list of medicines and supplements. Herbal recommendations require an individual review of your treatment stage and health history; they are not automatically part of an IVF or FET plan. Do not change prescribed fertility medication on the basis of information on this website.
Planning care around your IVF or FET schedule
Before treatment begins
Bring your upcoming schedule if you have it, together with your medication list and any information you would like to discuss. We can talk about your priorities and whether appointments would fit alongside your medical care. There is no standard number of visits that every patient needs to complete before starting IVF or FET.
During stimulation and around retrieval
Keep your fertility clinic’s monitoring and treatment appointments as your priority. Tell Mike about medication changes and any new symptoms before an acupuncture appointment. Your fertility clinic should assess concerns related to stimulation or retrieval; an acupuncture appointment does not replace that assessment.
During FET preparation and around transfer
Share your expected transfer date and your clinic’s instructions. Appointment timing can be discussed around your availability and your medical plan. A transfer-day appointment is not a requirement, and availability is not guaranteed.
After transfer
Continue the medication, testing and follow-up arranged by your fertility clinic. Let Mike know about a positive pregnancy test or a change in your health so that any proposed TCM care can be reviewed before treatment proceeds.
